Travel Snapshots - London and Paris

I love road trips, the none tour package ones away from the programme packed schedules, chasing after one tourist spot and then another, quick photos and cliche overpriced souvenir shops where you are pressured by time to buy stuff no one uses for people you don't care for... and you wonder where your money went to...
But these... these are the ones worth taking the time off and money well invested.

Stonehenge - an absolute mystery or perhaps just a pile of stones that really don't mean anything. But looking at the tourist income generated, no one's complaining. The drive there, amazing, a breath of fresh air from the buzzing London city.

Bibury - you must visit this Unesco site of the Cotswolds - you think Peter Rabbit was just a fairytale - other than talking animals, everything else is pretty much real.

Beautifully conserved village cottages

Even the angmoh cows look extra delicious

Lavender pastures

Summer lavenders

A barnyard right out of an Enid Blyton storybook

Shakespeare's House literally! He stayed here at Stratford upon Avon.

Warwick Castle - the whole works including dungeons and gallows

A princess's room (or perhaps a more recent duchess' parlour)

This is the Tower Bridge built adjacent to the Tower of London - this is the symbol you find at the end of the 80s' Electric Company kids' education programme along with the River Thames with a perfect mirror reflection. We've all been conned to think it was the London Bridge.

This  (not so beautiful) bridge is the London Bridge - not kidding.

London street scenes, along the river Thames

In Paris, even the underground train stations look artsy

An actual service going on in Notre Dame Cathedral

The awed Louvre museum where the Mona Lisa resides - if you are a fan of history, art and culture like I am, you will need a good 3 days to cover the major exhibits - this place is a maze!

An ancient Mesopotamian relic that gave me a headache during Bible college days - I stand besotted at your influence on bilical archeology and my brain...

The nicer part of Paris - indeed the city is overrated for its romance and beauty

Street artisans and painters - bought a piece of this chap's work back to Singapore at a pricey Euro 280. Oh well, for the love of all things French.. .
